Documentary Film Looks At Returning To Life After Prison
Portland, OR January 10, 2008 8:46 a.m.
Serving a prison term is like running your life into a brick wall.
Ex-offenders return to find their family lives in shambles, and their job prospects gone. The chance of rebuilding is even slimmer for those dealing with addiction.
Thursday night, difficult stories of life after prison come to the big screen.
Filmmaker Brian Huston has created a documentary --"From Prison to Home"-- that tracks four men trying to break out of drug problems, and put prison terms behind them.
All four were enrolled in a celebrated Multnomah County project that meets specific problems in the black community--it's called, simply, the African American Program.
OPB's April Baer spoke with Huston about the film.
