McCain Makes Fundraising Visit To Oregon
Portland, OR May 12, 2008 8:58 a.m.
Senator John McCain will be in Oregon Monday for his first visit of the 2008 campaign. April Baer reports the candidate may expand on his environmental policies during the trip.
Senator McCain's campaign says he'll make a major policy speech on global warming.
So far, the Senator has regularly noted the problems attributed to climate change. But he hasn't often spoken in specific terms about what should be done to address them.
Consider this visit a downpayment on the November general election. John McCain's competition for the Republican nomination is long gone. But he's already been taking shots at Illinois Senator Barack Obama on the stump.
Monday's visit follows a weekend when both Obama and Hillary Clinton made stops in Oregon.
This evening, McCain donors with a thousand dollars or more to give can attend a fundraiser at the Sheraton near PDX.
Oregon's Republican party says they expect more visits from McCain during the summer and fall general election season.
