Bill Clinton told a crowd in Newport that he’ll support whoever gets the Democratic nomination. But he says no one should count Hillary Clinton out just yet.
Bill Clinton: “She has been declared dead more times than a cat’s got lives.”
Still, Hillary Clinton is facing increasing calls to step out of the race. If she’s to have any shot at winning, she’ll have to win over voters like Randy Deutschman of Newport, who still hasn’t made up his mind.
Randy Deutschman: “I think a lot of people are that way. They’re waiting ‘til the last minute. I talked to so many people and they just haven’t quite really decided yet. They’re like me, they want to hear more.”
Deutschman has until next Tuesday to decide. Between now and then, Oregon Democrats will have the chance to see both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama in person. Both have scheduled campaign stops in the state later this week.
Republican candidate John McCain is also touring the Northwest this week. He outlined his plans to combat global warming at a speech in Portland Monday. He’ll continue to talk up his environmental agenda at a roundtable appearance near Seattle Tuesday.
