Politics and religion are the two subjects that conventional wisdom says to avoid in polite society.

Oregon filmmaker and self-professed Christian Dan Merchant takes up both in his new documentary. It's called, "Lord Save Us From Your Followers," and its subtitle asks the question, "Why is the Gospel of Love Dividing America?"

Allison Frost sat down with the filmmaker to talk with him about how he went about answering that question and what he wore on the journey.
