Abortion Claims Against Erickson Go On Record
Lake Oswego, OR June 23, 2008 12:19 p.m.
The woman who called out Republican Mike Erickson on his anti-abortion stance has gone on record with her claims.
April Baer reports that more details of the story have been confirmed.
The woman, known only as "Tawnya" lives in Oregon City, and has remained fiercely protective of her privacy, as stories circulated about her relationship with Erickson.
He's the Republican candidate for Oregon's 5th district Congressional seat. The two dated in the year 2000.
Tawnya says she became pregnant, and that Erickson, when confronted, paid for her abortion and even gave her a ride to the clinic.
Erickson--who opposes abortion rights-- says he didn't know she was having an abortion.
Now Tawnya has provided medical records to the Oregonian newspaper that appear to confirm a key detail.
According to the Oregonian she did have the procedure on January 30, 2001 at a clinic in Northeast Portland, which cost $300. She says he paid for the procedure.
Erickson has confirmed he gave her the money, but said that he thought he was paying for a different medical procedure.
