Citizens' Jury Will Consider Oregon Ballot Measures
Portland, OR September 15, 2008 9:10 a.m.
Ever feel like you could use some common sense help sorting out this year's ballot measures?
Elliot Shuford and Tyrone Reitman have a project for you. They're two young reformers who will convene a citizen jury.
The aim is to see what happens when a small group of randomly selected Oregonians meets to do some research, and assess whether ballot measures will work as advertised.
As they explained to me, they're doing a test drive this year, on just one item, Measure 58.
Reitman and Shuford say they're asking the citizen jury to produce a recommendation to help voters sort through election season spin.
