Fowler Announces Retirement As CEO Of PGE
Portland, OR October 29, 2008 7:53 p.m.
One of Oregon’s highest-profile executives, Peggy Fowler, will retire as CEO of Portland General Electric in two months.
She’s led the company for the last 8 years and took a hands-on approach as PGE separated from Enron.
Peggy Fowler: "We’ve put a number of major issues behind us. I feel like I’ve got a really good executive team. I’ve been with the company almost 35 years so it’s probably time to think about doing some other fun things in business in the community and with my family.”
Fowler will be replaced by Jim Piro the company’s chief financial officer, who’s been with PGE for 28 years.
He hopes to work on helping Oregon become a center for electric cars -- rather than hybrid cars.
