Democrats Are Confident Kate Brown Won Secretary Of State
Portland, OR November 5, 2008 11:26 a.m.
In Tuesday's election, Oregonians kept Brad Avakian as the state Labor Commissioner, while John Kroger will replace Hardy Myers as Attorney General.
And Democrat Kate Brown sounded confident Tuesday night that she would be the next Secretary of State. Becca Bartleson reports.
Kate Brown thanked Republican Rick Dancer for a clean campaign; she says he steered clear of negativity and spoke directly to the issues.
She also said that without Green Party rival Seth Wooley many important issues would have never come to light.
But mostly Brown focused on the future, and how she would affect it.
Kate Brown: "I will fight to make sure that the voice of every Oregonian is heard and that every single vote is counted. Under my watch you’ll always have elections we can trust."
Brown was well ahead of Dancer late Tuesday night. Vote-counting continues Wednesday.
