Man Killed At L.A. Scientology Center Reportedly From Oregon
Portland, OR November 24, 2008 2:51 p.m.
A man from Oregon has apparently been killed in Los Angeles, after brandishing swords at a famous Scientology hub. April Baer reports.
The Los Angeles Police Department has identified the dead man as 48-year-old Mario Majorski. Wire reports have identified him as an Oregonian.
Officer Sam Park of the LAPD says little is known yet about the confrontation at the Scientology Celebrity Center.
Sam Park: "It's my understanding he was at the Scientology compound, and they asked him to leave, and I think that it kind of progressed from there."
At this point, it appears Majorski was not part of any organized anti-Scientology movement.
A group called Anonymous has waged several protests against the Church of Scientology, calling for revocation of its tax-exempt status. But a query to Anonymous was returned, saying Majorski had never been part of the group.
